Day 7 – 10 Mar
Lesson as per normal, we continued from where we left. Our class had been taking the same module for 4 days as the timetable is always changing. We have not start our IS lesson yet. The 4 days had been tiring and the reason is that we are sleeping late at night. Haha!! Can’t help it!

Our lesson ended at around 4pm and we decide to go back to one of the supermarket to replenish our necessity. It is in a shopping mall known as “Sha Ping Mao” direct translation of English. Before going there to get stuff, we went to the opposite street to look around. There are tents set up at on area selling different food.

I think they are from Xin Jiang, one of the 56 groups in China…

The place has so much smoke due to the barbequing of meat stick therefore we did not enter to explore. There are many pushcarts that sell meat stick around Wuhan that comes from Xin Jiang but the meat they use is mostly mutton.

The costume plus their actions make them look so cute and interesting.

So after we seen the new stuff around the that area, we went to get our stuff. This time round we have more time and spend more time to choose what we like. But most of the time we only purchase biscuits and chipsJ We actually bought the 4litres of water from the supermarket and carry all the way to the bus stop! It was so heavy and unluckily we were unable to find the bus stop in the first place. In the end we manage to find the bus stop after a distance of walk with the 4litres water.

That’s the end of the long and tiring day.

Day 8 – 11 Mar
Let’s start with the first activity of the day. Project Management Lesson! We did our assignment and practical. Thanks to Ms Neo, we end our lesson at 12pm for the day. Then from there we began our adventure.

The Wuhan University of Science and Technology is at “Jian She Yi(1) Lu” and there are streets up to “ Jian She Shi(10) Lu”. So we started our street walk journey, beginning from “Jian She Yi(1) Lu”. During the journey at “Jian She Er(2) Lu” we came across many shops and food. Also there is supermarket and small shopping mall at that area.

Along the street I came across the china post truck. The entire truck is green in color but it stands out. I wonder if the post office is efficient in delivery of letters and parcels…This is the alley with the local homes in there…
While walking, we smell something real stink and upon walking forward we realize an area with many dogs. Some are huge which is difficult to rear in Singapore and some are small and cute.

Small and cute:

Huge and tall:
After such long period of winter, there is sun and also the flowers are preparing themselves to bloom. The weather is getting warmer; we start to wear lesser clothes. The weather had been nice for this few days, its cooling with the sun shining brightly:)

It’s a heartwarming scene looking at them enjoying themselves.

After a long walk from the first street, we realize we have reached the sixth!

We were actually quite tired at that time but still we decide to persevere and carry on in order for us to find cheap and good stuff like bags, clothes and shoes.
The life here is much slower and it is not as hectic compared to Singapore. Life is Simple!

Then we reached street 7!
There are many tents set up but the things they sell are almost similar. It is actually quite boring to walk pass those stalls. But at least we found somewhere new to explore as there are nothing much before this street. There are also some other shop outlets at the other side of the road selling their own local brands as well as sport brand like nike and addidas.

Finally we reach street 8!! It had been such a long walk and we decided to stop at this street
Just before we decided to go back to street one where our hostel is located, I came across this sign board…
Very disappointing and sad to see such things around and it is advertise so openly without getting caught or punished. They even leave the contact number for people to pre-order. I also heard from the local student, he said that the dog that is being cooked for eating is a special type of breed. Where it is ugly and nobody will want to treat it as pet. But still I feel that it is not necessary to eat that. When there is no demand there will be no supply! Sad to say, there are still a group of people who can’t change their habit of eating dog meat.
While walking to the bus stop, I looked up to the evening sky; it is so beautiful. The main color is purple and there is also mixture of white and blue…

We did not end our day just like that; we went back to the hostel. But it’s the local student’s male hostel. Our local friend brought us to his hostel to see what the difference between ours and theirs is. They have six people living in one room without toilet and heater. In comparison to our room, ours is so much better, in another words deluxe room.

Take a closer look, there is no ladder for the person who is sleeping at the upper deck to climb up. They have to use a stool for support!

One of our local friend bed, the netting is to prevent the his blanket to drop on the floor while he is sleeping.
The other local friend bed… it is so pinkish!! We were shock to see that the pinkish part of the room is his bed.

After visiting, we came back to our hostel to continue our chit chatting. We could not stay in his room for too long as it is really cold! Since there is no toilet, they have to bathe in the common toilet with no heater. The water is freezing cold especially in such weather. The guys will normally go out of hostel and pay 3RMB to bath with hot water. They can spent as much time as they want in that place without worrying there is no cold water.

That is the end of my day, with the colorful sky and pinkish area in my mind…
